JSSC CGL Overview

Jharkhand Staff Selection Commission (JSSC) conducts preliminary and mains exams online to select candidates for various positions. The selection process is based on the scores in these exams. The JSSC CGL Syllabus 2023 includes Assistant Bureau Officer, Block Supply Officer, Junior Secretariat Assistant, and Planning Assistant positions. The exam consists of objective type questions and the number of questions for prelims and mains are 120 and 370, respectively. The marking scheme awards 3 marks for each correct answer and deducts 1 mark for every incorrect answer. The selection process involves both prelims and mains exams. The selection process for Jharkhand SSC CGL 2023 will consist of four stages:

  1. Tier-I (Preliminary Exam): This is a computer-based exam with multiple-choice questions covering General Intelligence & Reasoning, General Awareness, Quantitative Aptitude, and English Comprehension. The duration of this exam is 60 minutes.
  2. Tier-II (Main Exam): This is also a computer-based exam with multiple-choice questions covering Quantitative Abilities, English Language & Comprehension, Statistics, and General Studies (Finance & Economics). The duration of this exam is 120 minutes.
  3. Tier-III (Descriptive Paper): This is a pen and paper exam that will test the writing skills of the candidate. This exam will have questions based on Essay, Precis, Letter, and Application Writing. The duration of this exam is 60 minutes.
  4. Tier-IV (Skill Test): This is the final stage of the selection process and will be conducted to test the skills of the candidates in data entry, computer proficiency, and other skills relevant to the post applied for.

The final selection of candidates will be based on their performance in Tier-I, Tier-II, and Tier-III exams. The Tier-IV exam will be qualifying in nature and its marks will not be considered for final selection. Candidates who qualify for the Tier-IV exam will be recommended for appointment based on their merit in Tier-I, Tier-II, and Tier-III exams.

The Jharkhand Staff Selection Commission (JSSC) conducts the JSSC CGL Exam annually to hire candidates for various positions under the JSSC. The exam comprises three main papers, and the syllabus for each paper is discussed below.

JSSC CGL Paper 1 Syllabus for Languages: Paper 1 assesses the candidates’ knowledge of both Hindi and English languages and is qualifying in nature. The qualifying marks for Paper 1 is 30% of the total marks. One correct answer earns 3 marks, and one wrong answer incurs a penalty of -1 mark.
